BIOGRAPHY: Octopizzo (KENYA)
Octopizzo
is a hip hop artist from Kibera, the largest slum in Africa and the
Founder of the C.B.O. and youth group Y.G.B. (Young, Gifted, and Black),
consisting of talented rappers, poets, graffiti artists, graphic
artists, and dancers.
Born Octopizzo (HENRY OHANGA) is a hip
hopper by birth. He attended primary and secondary school in Kibera as
well as St. Mary’s Changamwe College in Mombasa, before coming back to
Nairobi to get down with the microphone. He is the first-born in a
family of four and is also a proud Daddy to his one and only daughter,
Tracy.
At a very young age Octopizzo was first
and foremost shaped by his life in Kibera, but was musically influenced
by artists such as Chino XL, Big L, KRS, Diabolic, EPMD, Copyright, CL
Smooth, Immortal Technik, and Supernatural. He has won various freestyle
competitions in Kenya, including G Pange Hip Hop Challenge, Hip Hop
Halisi Freestyle Challenge, and Usanii Kona Hip Hop Challenge. He has
also performed at a variety of venues including WAPI (Words and
Pictures), Sprite Challenge, Ghetto Radio Serious Request, Translating
Hip Hop (Goethe Institute), International Hip Hop Summit, Grand National
Peace Concerts, Global Development of Peaceful Environments, as well as
several university, charity, and HIV Awareness concerts.
Octopizzo has shared the stage with
international artists such as Dead Prezz (U.S.A.), Black Twang (U.K.),
DJ Trouble Maker (U.S.A.), Bunt Face (U.S.A./Ethiopia), Malikah
(Lebanon), Le Melanina (Colombia), Mad Maxamon (Germany), Restley Perez
(Philippines), and Anne Khan (Germany). He has performed with a wide
range Kenyan artists including Jua Cali, Nonini, P Unit, Wahu, Wyre,
Jaguar, Jimmy Gait, Ukoo Flani, Point Blank, Mwafrika, and L Ness.
Octopizzo
has recorded 3 mix-tapes: S.O.N. (Stragglers of Nairobi), Y.G.B. (Young
Gifted and Black), and The White Shadow. In 2008 S.O.N. was the best
selling mixtape in Kenyan hip hop history. His album Chocolate City is

Actor who has been in Remarkable Programmes like a guest appearance on
MALI a Kenyan Drama and also on MTV SHUGA Season 2 drama.
2012 Octopizzo was Nominated in various
Awards starting with the Insyder Awards: he also got Nominated in two
categories at the Kisima Awards 2012 1st as the Artist Of The Year
category and his song ON TOP got nominated for the Best Hip Hop Video Of
the Year.
Octo was also nominated as BEST Male Artist of the year during the 2012 Coastal Nzumari Awards, which he Won.

Nonini started up a whole new crew known
as the P-Unit (pro-habo unit) that consists of rappers Bonnie, Frasha,
Gabu and himself. The crew has released some songs most notably “Si
lazima” which in swahili means it’s not a must. “Si lazima” is a song
that talks of times in a relationship where a couple doesn’t need to
have sex they can just go home and chill. People have found the song
quite ironic to the messages he portrayed in his previous songs. At the
2007 Kisima Music Awards P-Unit won the Boomba Group category. For
Nonini, it was the first time he won a Kisima Award, despite being on
the limelight for years. Their second single is known as Kushoto-Kulia;
meaning left-right. Both songs are on Nonini’s Mwisho ya Mawazo album.
P-Unit won the best group category at the
Chaguo La Teeniez Awards in 2007 and 2008 and the group was nominated
for the inaugural (2008) MTV Africa Music Awards. At the 2008 Kisima

Kenyan Rapper Says Ray C And The Late Ngwair Sunk Him Deeper Into Drug Addiction
G rongi who is now based in Paris , France says he lost everything he had and ended up roaming the streets as a homeless person in Mathare. It was then that his family traced him and took him to rehab.
The rapper who was speaking to Mzazi Willy M Tuva's Girongi revealed that he was in the same drug rings with the late Mangwair just one year before the Tanzanian rapper died. "I did drugs with big Tanzanian artists the likes of Ray C and rapper Mangwair who were all heavy consumers of hard drugs" adding that he was really affected when he learnt of his death.
G rongi now makes two the number of artists who have emerged from the dark past of drug addiction from the same drug ring. Ray C who was in the same crew recently left the rehab and has since started a foundation dealing with drug abuse.
The Fyatua rapper will be launching his new video "Mukurino" which is a kikuyu term that loosely translates to "who is the savior". According to G rongi the song is meant to provoke thoughts of people stuck in various predicaments, that they are their own saviors.
The Dandora bred rapper also revealed that he would jet back into the country in February 2015 to launch his album which he is going back to finalise in Paris

Kevin Waire aka Wyre is leading Kenyan dancehall artist.
At an early age he was fascinated by Michael Jackson and spent most
of his time imitating him. He is a second born in a family of three. He
indebts his success to his family and Ted Josiah his friend and
producer. When he joined Dagoretti High School for his A levels he
joined the choir and started a group of five:Soul Pac. They performed at
many city schools but later parted ways after school. He went for
auditions organised by Shelton Entertaiment and emerged top in the
R&B category. He furthered his carrer by joining Institute of
Communication Studies and Development.
While in college, Necessary Noise was
formed. Wyre got an internship and later a job at Ted Josiah’s
production house.The group launched their CD in April 2001 but later
broke up after Nazizi and Bamzi had to leave for Malaysia for further
studies.The group later joined again minus Bamzi but they remained
strong. Wyre and Nazizi launched Necessary Noize II. His career was
propelled when he featured in GidiGidi MajiMaji’s and Redsan’s song.He
was inspired by Hardstone and Kalamashaka.The duo joined Bebe Cool to
form the award-winning East African Reggae Bashment Crew and released
singles like Fire anthem, Kube, and Africa Unite. They have also
collaborated with Tanzanian T.I.D. and many more. In October 2004 the
two broke up to persue their own solo careers.
Wyre’s debut album, ‘Definition of a Love
Child’ was released in 2006 and is solos that continue to top charts
are ‘Usuhuba’,’Sikiza’, ‘Definations’, ‘Chuki’ and ‘Make a choice’. A
second album called Deeper Definition is due in 2009.

NONINI – THE ARTISTE
Born Hubert Nakitare in October
1982 in Nairobi’s California Estate in Eastlands, the young Nonini
caught the ‘freestyling’ bug in 1999 like many other of his peers when
Urban Kenyan Music was kicking in. A friend and fellow MC (T.I.T.O.)
introduced him to Clement Rapudo and Paul Nunda, better known as Clemo
(the producer) and Juacali (the artiste) and together they began the
‘Genge (Mass Music) Revolution’.
Like many other MC’s in the
industry, Nonini represents Genge! Genge is a Swahili word meaning
‘masses’ thus his music is basically ‘Music for the Masses’. His music
uses a raw format of slanguistic Swahili known as sheng which is quite
understood in the Kenyan streets. Nonini is instrumental in the
articulation of a subculture that is not openly spoken about in the past
Entrepreneurship has always been
in Nonini’s blood. He owns a clothing line called Nonini Wear and a
Video Production Agency called Pro Habo.
Nonini is currently a free lance
artiste, recording music in the different production houses and

Hamis Mwinjuma aka MwanaFalsafa aka
MwanaFA aka Binamu is Tanzania’s brightest Bongo Flava artists
commandeering the Hip Hop genre with a string of hits under his belt.

the Swahili language into poetic and entertaining flows while delivering

Professor Jay alianza shughuli za muziki mnamo miaka ya 90 hivi na alijiunga na kundi la ‘Hard Blasters Crew‘(HBC) mnamo mwaka 1994. Felister Nyahucho (Stosh) was born Aug,13

Minaj amesema kuwa alipigiwa simu na kupewa taarifa kuwa Beyonce anataka kumshirikisha kwenye ‘Flawless Remix’ kama mwezi mmoja au miwili iliyopita, na baadae akamtumia wimbo na kumsisitiza afunguke bila kuogopa, na kweli tumeona amefunguka kiasi mpaka Lil Kim kashindwa kuvumilia na kujibu.
Haya ndio maelezo ya Minaj jinsi ilivyokuwa:
“A month or two ago, Gee [Roberson] called me when I was on my way to Vegas and said, ‘Beyoncé wants you to remix to ‘Flawless. She sent me a version that she wanted. She told me, ‘I want you to be you. I don’t want you to hold back. I said, ‘You sure?’
She said, ‘Yeah. I want you to be you and do you. I was actually in New York writing the verse. I recorded the verse in New York and she stopped by the studio. She was such a sweetheart. She was hyping me up, ‘Do your thing. Don’t hold back. Go in.’ I was like, ‘Okay. Alright.”
