Kenyan hip hop rapper G rongi has
revealed that Tanzanian artists such as Ray C and Mangwair got him to
sink in deeper into drug addiction that almost killed his rap career.
G rongi who is now based in Paris , France says he lost everything he had and ended up roaming the streets as a homeless person in Mathare. It was then that his family traced him and took him to rehab.
The rapper who was speaking to Mzazi Willy M Tuva's Girongi revealed that he was in the same drug rings with the late Mangwair just one year before the Tanzanian rapper died. "I did drugs with big Tanzanian artists the likes of Ray C and rapper Mangwair who were all heavy consumers of hard drugs" adding that he was really affected when he learnt of his death.
G rongi now makes two the number of artists who have emerged from the dark past of drug addiction from the same drug ring. Ray C who was in the same crew recently left the rehab and has since started a foundation dealing with drug abuse.
The Fyatua rapper will be launching his new video "Mukurino" which is a kikuyu term that loosely translates to "who is the savior". According to G rongi the song is meant to provoke thoughts of people stuck in various predicaments, that they are their own saviors.
The Dandora bred rapper also revealed that he would jet back into the country in February 2015 to launch his album which he is going back to finalise in Paris
